US Senator Warren names judicial nominee review panel.

BOSTON (AP) — U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren has named an advisory committee to solicit, interview, and comment on applications for federal District Court vacancies in Springfield and Boston.

Warren says she'll review the work of the committee before making final recommendations on judicial nominees to President Barack Obama.

Warren said the committee will be made up of distinguished members of the Massachusetts legal community, including academics and litigators.

The committee will be chaired by former U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Gertner of Boston.

Warren said a lifetime appointment to the federal bench is a solemn responsibility, and she’s looking forward to reviewing the candidates and making recommendations to Obama to quickly fill the current judicial vacancies.

Applications must be completed and received by the committee by April 8end of story marker
